Activity Check
Activity Check
Activity Check in Lost Raiders is, for the moment, an experimental system. Our AC is that each player is required to contribute to shaping the game each month in some way. What this means is that rather than a more traditional AC, each month you will comment on the spreadsheet below detailing how much tribute your character gathered (in the form of artifacts your character found during the course of exploring ruins or how much energy they accumulated doing Objectives) and which temple they donated to. (More info about tribute here). For those not offering tribute, a link to a comment on the Setting Changes page for that month can work as AC instead.
The number of artifacts or accumulated power from Objectives your character collects is up to you and doesn't have to reflect actual in-game threads. Base your amount of tribute on what you estimate your character did either on-screen or off-screen. We cap the amount at 10 tribute per character each month for our own sanity when it comes to the math, though certain contract powers allow you to turn in a higher limit of tribute each month.
AC/TRIBUTE SPREADSHEET.
AC is due by 11:59 PM EST the last day of every month.
If your character is not listed on the spreadsheet, contact the mods to have them added.
My character stays in The City instead of tomb raiding, but I'm active. What do I report?
» You can turn in energy accumulated from doing Objectives! There's also a column marked "Setting Changes Link" on the spreadsheet for if your character neither went ruin raiding nor completed Objectives. Write a brief summary of what your character did this month on the Setting Changes page and link it there. Please be aware that not offering tribute comes with IC consequences, so if you haven’t played this month for OOC reasons, simply hiatus instead. On the other hand, if you want to play with the consequences you’re free to choose to do so.
What are these IC consequences?
» In short, not turning in any kind of tribute for three months in a row is Bad News. The gods aren’t willing to put in the energy to maintain a character’s existence in the world without any return, and after 3 months of no tribute, they’ll cut your character off. This means no foothold on reality and your character will essentially die. It’s possible to come back from this death with a little help from your friends (or enemies, or frenemies) but it’s difficult. Hiatuses do not count towards this penalty, and no consequences need be played if you’re on hiatus. Please note that these consequences are meant to ICly motivate characters and are not meant to be OOCly punitive. Read more about them over here!
So I can just not do anything and keep a character if I check in?
» Technically, yes, but why be in the game if you're not going to be active? This is a lenient system, and if people are abusing it repeatedly, we'll have to change things to an actual Activity Check which is just more work for everyone. No one wants that. Be reasonably active, and if you're having an off month, take a hiatus. Keep in mind that if you're not playing in the game, you're taking up a character that someone else might want to play.
Can I link to a setting change comment made by someone else? What counts as a good setting change?
» It's perfectly fine to have multiple people link to one comment that mentions them all provided that the comment is clear about what changes each mentioned character are impacting. Bob and Susan talked and then Bob fought a horde of werebats infesting the city wouldn't work for Susan's AC but Bob and Susan both found a horde of werebats infesting the city works for both. For further clarification even just making up that horde of werebats and is a setting change!
Setting changes do not have to be major world ending things. They can be how your characters interacted with NPCs, murder and monstering included, what things you created in the environment to interact with, anything we can potentially use to mention in the following month. As in the earlier example, if two people thread finding werebats in their attic, we could absolutely incorporate that to a minor game wide thing! Setting changes do not have to be deliberate actions by characters, but can just be their interaction with the environment, or your creation of the environment!
How do I hiatus?
» No need to leave a comment anywhere! There's a column on the AC spreadsheet, just note your hiatus there. If you personally can't make your hiatus note on the spreadsheet, a friend can do so for you. You cannot hiatus two months in a row.
What happens if I don't check in on time?
» You get added to the AC Warning List! Comment there by the 2nd of the month to stay in game. If you don't, you'll be idled from the game and will need to reapply. You can app back in at the next app round, but if you abuse this by repeatedly idling/dropping and re-apping, we may bar you from apping for a length of time. Being on the AC Warning List three times in a row will also result in being dropped.
What's considered being reasonably active?
» A good guide for a reasonable minimum level of activity is having at least one thread of substance with new CR or two threads of substance with old CR each month.
What's a thread of substance?
» This is always subjective, but a good guideline to keep in mind is a thread of at least 10-15 comments by your character. We'll be lenient with this, as long as something is actually happening in the thread. Think something emotional or action-packed rather than just chatty small talk, and we can all agree that a thread with only two comments in it probably isn't going to cut it.
This is confusing, why can't we just have exact guidelines?
» Because it's the honor system right now and we're not interested in policing how active you are unless it becomes a problem for the game! We feel the less strict we are the more fun it is!
